What job/career did you transition from?

In my previous career, I was a teacher, department chair, and team leader. When everything shut down at the beginning of COVID, I helped my colleagues learn how to put their courses online. As I was researching new methods and tools, I learned about the field of Instructional Design and found AIDA!

Why did you join AIDA?

I joined AIDA because it is by far the most comprehensive ID program available. I knew that I would need a step-by-step process to make this career transition happen. I attended the 5-day workshop and was so impressed with the stories I was hearing from previous AIDA members, that I knew this was the program for me.

How did AIDA set you up for Success?

The practical application of learning is what set me up for success. The program’s structure maximizes learning time by focusing on what IDs actually do on the job. Also, having my samples reviewed and critiqued several times by actual IDs helped me learn and grow much more quickly than if I was trying to do it on my own.

What do you love about AIDA?

AIDA gave me everything I needed, and it was the most practical education I have ever received. I also loved how much support I was given through my pod, success advisor, coaching calls, and mentor-led training sessions. There was never a shortage of new things to learn!

What are you doing now?

I work full-time for a financial technology company as their only Instructional Designer. I get to help set policies and procedures for the L&D team (i.e. needs analysis), create courses, design resource materials for learners, create and edit videos, and so much more. I can honestly say that I have used every bit of my AIDA knowledge as a working ID.
